TEAM Slivka arrived in Colorado Springs in July 2012, when we began the construction of our home at the base of Cheyenne Mountain. Having spent part of the summers of 2010 and 2011 in Colorado Springs on family vacations, we made it a priority to get to the area, plant some roots, and settle in the Colorado Springs area at least while our kiddos were still in school. All is on course!
My priorities are God, Family, followed by my career. My best friend, and the foundation of our family, is Erin. We are blessed with 4 amazing children: Jacob, Bethany, Matthew, and Joshua. Each are unique and beautiful in their own way. Our fifth “child” is our 4-legged friend and Weimaraner, Gunner-the Great, and he is quite the attention getter. In the past few years, we have also rescued 4 horses at our “farm” in Fountain, CO.
We are a military family. Erin served 11 years and left in order to take care of the family after we welcomed the arrival of twins in 2004 and went from 1 to 3 kiddos—quite the adjustment. I retired from active duty in 2018 as an Army Colonel and results-oriented leader with over 25-years of proven experience delivering timely products, decision analysis, and recommendations that reduce cost, improve processes, and solve problems! I managed risk upon multiple lines to protect human capital, assets, property, and equipment while meeting all mission requirements. These core attributes transitioned well into a 2nd career as a financial advisor and military transition mentor for fellow Veterans. I continue to be a lifetime learner as I understand the value of education and experiences to mold my expertise.
At Northwestern Mutual, I work with Veterans in any stage of their careers, successful business owners, and professionals across all industries— to understand their complex financial issues, and how it can impact life goals. We develop enduring relationships with clients by providing expert guidance for a lifetime of financial security needs. I welcome the opportunity to help transitioning Veterans by sharing my lessons learned and resources leveraged in transition to the civilian sector. 90% of my clients served in some capacity, or are family members of those Veterans.
I believe in helping others plan for tomorrow, by living for today, and making an impact in our community 1 life at a time. I believe in the value of building a relationship with network connections where I am committed to knowing who you are and how I can help you. These affirmations spill over into my wife’s vision to also serve Veterans through our 501(c3) Unharnessed Potential (www.unharnessedpotential.com) where we rescue horses that rescue people through mental health and equine assisted services.
I choose to spend my post-Army career supporting my best friend who supported me along the way. I serve as the President of her Board for Unharnessed Potential where we strive to reach and help as many Veterans as can in Southern Colorado. Our passions of continuing to serve through giving back is the significance we strive to achieve in our local community.
Citizen Soldier Connection is always looking for quality individuals with leadership experience who would like to serve on our board. We're anxious to hear about your heart for the people we serve. Contact us to learn more.
